Jalapeño Watermelon Slushie

One easy way to include chili flavor is to make it into a simple, refreshing drink! Cool off and (spice up!) with a Jalapeño Watermelon Slushie. Jalapeños are very often the easiest chili pepper to find, but if you have something else, feel free to substitute, using more or less depending on heat level.

Yields: 4 slushies

Ingredients:

  1. Remove the rind of the watermelon, and chop the entire melon into cubes. Add the cubes into a freezer bag and place them into the freezer overnight, or until frozen.
  2. The next day, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño, and mince. Add to a blender or food processor with lime juice and honey.
  3. Add your frozen watermelon cubes, and if you would like to make this into a cocktail, your choice of cider, white wine, or spirit (I recommend adding 4oz of water if you choose not to include a spirit.) Pulse until you reach a slushie consistency, pour/spoon into a fun glass, garnish with lime, and enjoy!
