DreamScape Desserts was originally founded in 2010 as a home based bakery. Since then it has continued to grow and we opened a retail store in 2020. We have had the honor to be a part of countless events and hope to work with you on your upcoming event! Whether it is a wedding, birthday, shower, graduation or small get together, we would love to create something that is custom to what you are looking for. With over 40 flavors on our cake and cupcake menu, there is sure to be a flavor for everyone! We truly find so much joy in getting to know our customers and creating sweet treats for them year after year.
Karisa Mendez-Orr ~ Owner, General Manager
Karisa and her husband Bob joined DreamScape Desserts late 2022. Karisa has been baking since she was very young, and has always dreamed of owning a bakery. She experimented with cupcake recipes for years, and decided it was not just a hobby for her. She really wanted to learn as much about baking as she could, so she went back to school. She graduated with her Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry in Ft. Lauderdale, FL while doing special orders for friends and family. She started to become homesick, and think about planting her roots in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Karisa attended Grand Valley State University years before, earning her B.A. in Hospitality Management, and fell in love with the city, and it was not too far from her home town. She continued on her cupcake journey here, and eventually decided to add decorated sugar cookies to her portfolio. She started with her friend’s son’s first birthday set, then fell in love with the process.
Jenna Medendorp ~ Bakery Manager
Jenna joined DreamScape Desserts as an intern while completing her baking and pastry degree from Baker College in 2016. She has grown with the company and honed her skills. Jenna is now an irreplaceable member of the team. If you are placing an order or doing a to-go tasting for a wedding, chances are you will be working with Jenna! When Jenna isn't at the bakery, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is also heavily involved with Great Lakes Golden Retriever Rescue.
