Scalawags Whitefish & Chips, a fish and seafood restaurant in Mackinaw City, MI, was founded by Brian Parker, a Michigan native, in the summer of 1992.

Brian has more than 50 years of culinary experience. After 7 years of working with Marriot Resorts in Arizona, he returned home to northern Michigan to fulfill his dream of owning his own restaurant. After researching tourism trends in the area, he chose Mackinaw City, Michigan to open the first Scalawags Whitefish & Chips, a quick service casual seafood dining establishment featuring the freshest whitefish, perch and walleye harvested from the Great Lakes. The restaurant is open May through October each year, and for more than 25 years now, families and groups have planned their vacations and trips to Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island around eating at Scalawag's Whitefish and Chips.
