Our story began in 1887. My grandfather, Rudolph, opened his shop to provide Detroit with the highest quality butter, eggs and cheese. In 1924, my father, Clarence, joined the company and began to write the next chapter here at 2468 Market Street, adding hard-to-find specialty goods to the tastiest cheeses from across the globe.
Today we continue this tradition. We've recently remodeled the shop my grandfather built in 1893, putting a new shine on the floor and adding recycled lighting from the old Detroit Axle plant. We even built new counters from lumber dating to 1904. Most importantly, we took time to honor Mom and Dad by putting their name on the door.
While the old building may look a bit different, one thing hasn't changed. My family is dedicated to providing a timeless shopping experience. Our mission is to bring you the greatest selection of cheese and specialty foods while staying true to our Detroit Eastern Market legacy.
Here's to the next 125 years.
