The views of rolling farmland available around MSU Tollgate are practically unknown elsewhere in present-day Oakland County, making it one of the original historical sites of Novi, Michigan. The 160 acre farmstead is currently owned by Michigan State University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Americana Foundation. The MSU Tollgate farm site represents a working farm with animals, community gardens, and sustainable agriculture demonstrations.
MSU Tollgate provides non-formal learning opportunities for children, families, and adults, offering the unique opportunity to experience agriculture hands-on in an urban environment. As part of our Sustainable Agriculture Program, we grow more than forty different vegetables for sale to our 150+ member CSA, farm stand and a local restaurant. Embracing organic growing methods and progressive growing techniques, our production strives to grow food that nurtures soil and human health. Additionally, we run a farmer training program each summer for those interested in learning more about how to run a small-scale diversified vegetable operation.
