Tostada Magazine Develops Anti-Gentrifier’s Guide to Dining in Detroit

According to Detroit’s Tostada Magazine, “The days of the hyped up listicle that emphasize trendy (usually expensive) new restaurants in gentrifying parts of town are over.” 

In partnership with BridgeDetroit, Tostada is reframing the narrative on how area restaurants are publicized. Through their endeavor to honor excellence in Metro Detroit’s foodways, they are proud to announce their upcoming Anti-Gentrifiers’ Guide to Dining in Detroit. This guide aims to recognize the restaurants and individuals in the area who demonstrated leadership, innovated, and uplifted their communities. 

However, Tostada needs your help! You’re invited to join the process of developing this dining guide. Nominations will be accepted through January 14, 2021. Once collected, nominations will be reviewed by the Tostada and Bridge Detroit teams.The dining guide will be published in early 2022.

To create this guide, Tostada and BridgeDetroit will employ two dozen journalists and creators of color dedicated to shining the spotlight on the area’s hardest industry workers.
