Keep it Local this Traverse City Restaurant Week

This year, dozens of restaurants are participating in Traverse City Restaurant Week (TCRW) from February 24 – March 2nd . This is the perfect opportunity to take a culinary excursion and enjoy some of Traverse City’s finest restaurants! Prices always range between $25-35 a person, three course meals are offered, and reservations are strongly encouraged.

In addition, a number of participating restaurants are making it a priority to incorporate local ingredients on their menu. Many participants are sourcing directly from local farmers and producers.

How is this possible in the winter you ask? There are still many options for eating local during the winter in northern Michigan. Many restaurants are taking advantage of local meat, eggs, dairy products, and local bread. While also incorporating storage crops, hardy winter greens (spinach and kale), root vegetables (beets, carrots, turnips), and alliums (onions, garlic). Check out this useful guide to find out what local food is available this time of year in northern Michigan!

When choosing where to dine during TCRW,  consider supporting restaurants that are supporting our local farmers. We’ll keep you up-to-date on Facebook and Instagram on where to find local dishes during TCRW.
