Make Food Not Waste is a Southeast Michigan-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and its
harmful impact on the environment. By rescuing surplus food and transforming it into meals for those in
need, they’ve already diverted over 60,000 pounds of food from landfills—preventing methane gas from
entering the atmosphere—and served over 100,000 meals to people across the region. Their mission also
includes broader initiatives, like the 2030 Project, which aims to cut food waste in Michigan by 50% by the
end of the decade.
Now, Make Food Not Waste is inviting the community to take part in their mission in a fun, engaging way with BINGO! This unique fundraising campaign is a win-win for everyone: you get to support local businesses, reduce food waste, and even get rewarded with exciting prizes.
Here’s how it works:
For every $10 donation to Make Food Not Waste, you’ll receive one BINGO card featuring 24 local businesses that are committed to sustainability and community support. Each participating business is offering exclusive discounts to BINGO players. After your donation, we’ll send your digital BINGO card straight to your inbox. Whether you print it out or use it digitally, your goal is to visit the businesses listed on the card, make a purchase, and mark off the corresponding square. To give you a head start, The Sweet Beet square is free! BINGO runs through September 30, so there’s plenty of time to play, explore, and win.
Once you’ve marked off five squares in a row—whether horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—snap a
photo of your completed card along with your receipts, and email them to [email protected].
You’ll then be entered into a drawing to win one of five incredible gift baskets, each packed with prizes
from the businesses featured on the card.
This campaign not only helps fund Make Food Not Waste’s vital work but also drives support to local entrepreneurs.
