Our Team’s Favorite Wintertime Craft Beverages

What’s your favorite way to eat locally in the winter? When the winds are bitter and the snow blankets the farm fields, we love to sip local on beautifully crafted beverages. Try our team of passionate eaters’ recommendations!

I love a honey lavender oat latte from White Wolf Japanese Patisserie in Clawson! It goes perfectly with a classic buttery croissant.  – Emily Row, Director of Communications, Waterford

I’m not typically a flavored coffee person, but the Damascus Gate latte at Hexenbelle in Traverse City is what dreams are made of. It’s flavored with rose, black cardamom, clove, and saffron and never overly sweet. – Christina Marbury, Marketing Director, Leelanau County

If you haven’t gone to Short’s recently, I’d recommend heading back over for their winter offerings! I recently enjoyed a S’more Stout at the Pull Barn with a flaming marshmallow on top that was both delicious and fun. – Claire Butler, Content Strategy Specialist, Kewadin

Starting a chilly winter morning with the Kerouac Tea Latte from Dessert Oasis is the best way to start the day! Their take on a classic London Fog (Earl Grey tea latte) has some kind of extra magic that just makes it taste like the perfect warm cup of lavender, floral, tea goodness. – Grace Gamble, Director of Operations, Madison Heights

I’ve been sipping on some spirits I picked up this summer from Ethanology Distillation in Elk Rapids, MI. My tastebuds have been hooked on their Amara Pira Liqueur, which features locally grown ingredients building its flavor of lavender, pears, hops, and fennel. I’ve been enjoying it in a mixed drink with their Hiems Winter Gin, sparkling water, lemon, and a touch of agave stirred with ice. It doesn’t beat a cocktail made in-house by the talented staff at Ethanology, but this will pacify me until my next trip Up North! – Karey Stid, Customer Success Strategist, Lansing

The seasonal lattes from Hyperion Coffee in Ypsilanti are my favorite! I always look forward to them, especially their pumpkin one. This year it was Pumpkin Tahini and my favorite thing about their flavored lattes is they make their own flavor sauces from real food ingredients. The Pumpkin Tahini latte is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet.  – Erika Tebbens, Director of Impact, Ypsilanti
