This recipe was originally published in the ‘2022 Local Food Guide for Michigan’
- 2 oz. Detroit City rye whiskey
- 1 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- (optional) 1 egg white
- 1 oz. fruity red wine
2 Traverse City Whiskey Co. premium cocktail cherries skewered on a cocktail pick
Add whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled.
Optional: For additional richness, add one egg white to the above ingredients and dry shake (without ice) in the cocktail shaker for 30 seconds. Then add ice and shake until chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
Slowly pour red wine over the back of a spoon, held just above the glass, to create a surface layer.
Add cocktail cherry garnish. Enjoy.
