Easy Michigan Fudge

Enjoy this original recipe from Elizabeth Gentry of Harvest Chocolate in Tecumseh! While we enjoyed ours with nuts and sea salt flakes, this recipe can be great with several different toppings, making it a treat for many different holidays (or just for fun!)

This recipe was originally published in the 2024 Local Food Guide.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bags (12oz) Harvest Chocolate Snacking Chocolate
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (or sweetened condensed coconut milk)
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
  • Optional toppings: sea salt, crushed nuts, dried Traverse City cherries, or crushed candy cane pieces for a festive touch.

Instructions:

Prep Your Pan: Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper, letting some hang over the sides. Set aside.

Melt the Ingredients: In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir constantly, until the chocolate and butter have fully melted and the mixture is smooth and well combined, which should take about 5-7 minutes.

Transfer to Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, using a spatula to smooth the top into an even layer.

Add Toppings: If you wish to add a personal touch, sprinkle your chosen toppings evenly over the top of the fudge.

Chill the Fudge: Transfer the pan to the refrigerator and allow the fudge to set for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Cut into Squares: Once the fudge has set, use the parchment paper to lift the whole block of fudge out of the pan. Using a sharp knife, cut the fudge into squares of your desired size.

Serve and Enjoy: Your fudge is now ready to be served! Enjoy the rich, creamy texture and deep chocolate flavor.

Storage: Store any leftover fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to two weeks.
