| Field trip description: |
You and your students will be treated to a wagon ride through our apple orchards with a guide informing you about farming and a general knowledge of Friske Orchards. This is followed by a short walking tour of the apple orchards with presentations and activities dealing with the parts of an apple tree, the life cycle, basic photosynthesis and pollination. These short lessons will be age-appropriate and align with Michigan Standards and Benchmarks for elementary science. Then there's snack time: a yummy homemade doughnut and some fresh pressed Friske Apple Cider. At the end of the tour, students will be able to visit our petting zoo and feed the farm animals. The Orchard Playland is available to enjoy. When the tour is over, everyone is welcome to come inside the farm market, cafe, bakery, fruit stand, general store and Country Haus gift shop to shop around. |

Friske Orchards is a 240 acre orchard nestled in the rolling hills of northern Michigan. Friske's is a three-generation family farm that produces asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries, sweet and tart cherries, peaches, apricots, pears, plums, nectarines and 27 varieties of apples. In addition to growing these crops, they produce a variety of jams, jellies, butters, sauces, pie fillings and more. Friske's Farm Market is open year around, Mon-Sat., 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. with extended hours July 1st - Labor Day. Friske's ships year around, too. |
